juiced!

“JUICE, it’s a wild sensation; JUICE, it’s an inspiration”

as mentioned a few times in the past coupla weeks, another Arthur J. Bressan, Jr.’s film has been restored and is getting an NYC screening! THIS SATRUDAY the 14th!!!

JUICE (1984)
screening SATURDAY DECEMBER 14 – NYC

Anthology Film Archives 32 Second Avenue New York, NY 10003

Starring: Michael Christopher, Butch LaCross, Vincent Thomas (see interview link below), Robert Vega, Emilio Leone, Eric Ryan, Francesco Lorca, Jeff Stone, and Jeremy Scott

I wish this promo was of better quality, but I made it years back as an wmv file, now an mp4, still, I think it’s fun despite the quality

OK – So, i’m JUICED cuz I plan to get to the screening (but I’ll barely be in town 48 hours, I have a deadline to meet and – wait, that’s the plot of the film!) – I just hope no one feels the need to warn me about their being SEX in this PORNO MOVIE!

But I’ve got other things to be peeved about – check out this box cover art I found a while back – (yes, you can call it a JUICE BOX if you will) – apparently a subsequent VHS release, but Michael Christopher wasn’t good enough for the box, so rando scarey hair man was their choice???!!!

“A photographer working at the magazine “JUICE” has 48 hours in New York City to get some hot pics to meet the mag’s deadline. Eric Ryan and Michael Christopher, talk about 2 nice fat cocks! Michael Christopher in another gentle, sexy performance.” – nice quote!

OK, another scene – Butch LaCrosse and Jeff Stone “model” for Michael…and then… oh, don’t want to spoil the scene before you see it.

can i just say if someone can make this JUICE t-shirt a reality, I’ll cream my pants!

JUICE – the theme song – I swear someone transcribed it for me years back, but if anyone is in the mood, we’d all be ever so grateful for the lyrics!

Added bonus – i posted this the other day, but here it is again – I stumbled upon this 1987 Vince Thomas interview from Stallion magazine; check it out, includes interview + nekkid pics! (or download zip file here )

Fuck Me, Fuck Me, Daddy!

DADDY DEAREST – 40th Anniversary!
World premiere new 2K restoration!

Monday, December 9, 2024 7PM
IFC CENTER 323 6th avenue, New York, NY 10014

I figured since most of us can’t go, I’d post this 1984 article/interview from Manifest magazine. Here’s a zip file of the pages if you prefer to download for yourself. But before I end my celebration of all that is DADDY DEAREST, there is one thing that’s been bothering me ever since I saw it’s getting this great restoration and screening (OK, besides me not being there!) Check this out from the description on the IFC website: “Edward Thompson (Daniel Holt) is a gay porno filmmaker hard at work on his latest epic: the tacky story of a pair of college buddies (Dean Johnson and Andrew Dupree) wanting to hook up with an older daddy (Richard Locke) called Fuck Me, Fuck Me, Daddy! But as shooting gets underway…. – “tacky story”?? who wrote that? what’s so “tacky” about it? Am I being weird about the poor choice of words? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I know it’s not an “intriguing story” or “compelling story” or “sad story” or or or… I could go on, right?!! But tacky??? Simple story, “age old story” “relatable story” I mean, tacky – was this in like the original publicity? I’m getting myself worked up – oh harummmmph!

Try the porn theaters, you never know

as mentioned earlier this week, another Arthur J. Bressan, Jr.’s film has been restored and is getting an NYC screening!

JUICE (1984)
screening SATURDAY DECEMBER 14 – NYC

Anthology Film Archives 32 Second Avenue New York, NY 10003

Starring: Michael Christopher, Butch LaCross, Vincent Thomas (see interview link below), Robert Vega, Emilio Leone, Eric Ryan, Francesco Lorca, Jeff Stone, and Jeremy Scott

I chose the above scene because it not only shows some 1980’s NYC, got the film-within-a-film bit, but mostly Eric Ryan’s answer to “got any ideas?” is “Try the porn theaters, you never know” – THAT WAS MY 1980’s NYC MOTTO!

“JUICE, it’s a wild sensation; JUICE, it’s an inspiration”

JUICE on BJland (maybe some posts from 2001-2010 blog?) and JUICE on BJland – surprisingly not as much after 2010 – to be ameliorated!

Added bonus – while I wasn’t a fan at the time, I stumbled upon this 1987 Vince Thomas interview from Stallion magazine; check it out, includes interview + nekkid pics!

DADDY DEAREST – 12/9/24 showing!

40th Anniversary! World premiere new 2K restoration!
Monday, December 9, 2024 7PM
IFC CENTER 323 6th avenue, New York, NY 10014

WOW WOW WOW!!! I’m very excited about this, one of my favorite films – but, alas, I left the city 7 years ago! (road trip???) But YOU SHOULD DROP EVERYTHING AND GO! Seeing this on the big screen again would be awesome. There is, alas (do people actually say “alas”?), 1 likely downside. Sigh. Yes, “it ain’t the old days” and that means it’s gonna have no man2man action off screen or behind the screen or in the audience or down in the basement or… still, I’d go if I could. A few clips to entice you – out of order, but I love this first clip below that is 10 of the last 14 minutes of the film.

Daddy Dearest (1984) director: Arthur J. Bressan, Jr.

Starring: Richard Locke , Daniel Holt, Johnny Dawes, Robert Vega, Dean Johnson, Andrew Dupree, and Jan Boscamp.

While I know I should add more to this post, I also need to get out of the house before the sun is gone – perhaps more later.

THE BRESSAN PROJECT

from the “how did I miss this” file:

Nearly impossible to see following its brief theatrical release in 1985 and never officially released on home video, BUDDIES makes its home video debut (back in 2018!), newly restored from its long lost 16mm negative, from Vinegar Syndrome . (it may also be on Amazon, but if purchasing, please consider the company that is making this, and other gay films available again – Vinegar Syndrome!) Also available for streaming through Kanopy.

from the New York Times: Long Forgotten, a Landmark Film in AIDS History Is Rescued

and this is all due to THE BRESSAN PROJECT – a collaboration of director Arthur J. Bressan, Jr.’s sister Roe Bressan and LGBT film historian Jenni Olson, The Bressan Project is devoted to the preservation and promotion of the films of Arthur J. Bressan, Jr. THIS IS FANTASTIC! – thank you thank you thank you! so happy to see this!

I saw the film back in the fall of 1985 when it came out; it was devastating to watch at that time, as you probably can imagine (or recall what it was like back in ’85). I have yet to watch again, or purchase – kind of need the right moment. But am ecstatic with its re-release, and the promise of more from The Bressan Project. As y’all may know, I am trying to update (and expand, flesh out) some of my non-blog pages – starting with my directors pages. Do me a favor if you can, and check out my current (and soon to be former) page for Bressan, and my 2020 update (still in progress) – feedback, tips, typos, ANY thing to improve it, I’d appreciate hearing about it either in the comments, or via email. thanks!
