pull that sock a little closer, mike

a reader (yes, i get read!) reminded me that I had promised to reveal the source of the great Mike Morris exercising pic from a few weeks back. I stumbled upon the VGMH (vintage gay male history) site some time ago, I think while looking for something on Al Parker, but then I found this post on Mike Morris. While he doesn’t say so, I think the original pics are from “Arnold’s Bodybuilding for Men”. Anyhoo, it’s a pretty cool site. While I have to admit that I get a little uneasy at 1990’s porn stars being called “vintage”, you’ll soon find out what the best part of this site is – just click any of the pics you like, and you’ll more likely than not get a HUGE version of the pic, as you’ll see when you click Mike above and go to the post on Mr Morris. Enjoy (and tell him BJ sent you).

love this pic of him – pretty sure I nabbed it from an issue of Drummer Magazine (America’s Mag for the Macho Male), mid 80’s, maybe? first on the scene in Joe Gage ‘s 1980 film, HANDsome, I swear he had a scene early in his career with Al Parker. I know it’s contained in the collection, A Night Alone with Al Parker, but what where did the scene originally come from – Wanted, perhaps? i’ll just have to figure that out later.

Mike Morris is better than banana

Director: Fred Halsted (1978)

released in 1978 as an 8MM film and a glossy magazine, Desert Fox was made by Halsted after he and Mike Morris worked together on Joe Gage’s El Paso Wrecking Corp. in 1977. Halsted had formed a production company, Cosco Studios, with his partner Joey Yale in the mid 1970’s, and by this time were in full swing with 8MM films and magazines you could order through mail order in the back of many of our favorite magazines at the time – Honcho, In Touch, and others. As far as I can tell, this is one of only 3 films Mike Morris ever made – the 3rd being a COLT film, Summit Meeting, made with Paul Storr – you can also see the pair in the COLT magazine, MANPOWER! #8.

Click one of the pics to view the movie trailer (you know that if you view the clip in the browser, you can “right click” and view it FULL SCREEN, right?), or here if you want to download and save for later.

EDIT: how did I not include DAVE DANIELS as Mike’s awesome co-star?
