a cinematic whirlwind of passion and lust

Kiss Today Goodbye

directed by: Francis Ellie (1976)
Starring: George Payne, Lew Seager, David Savage, Michael Gaunt, Mark Hamilton , Kurt Mann, Firth Demule, Ben Dover, R. Cansino, and in a non-sexual role, Mary Stunning (Seager’s wife).

Kiss Today Goodbye

George Payne is a construction worker who cheats on his nagging lover (and boy does he nag!) with a married, closeted, man (Lew Seager). I can’t decide which is more amusing, the narrator’s lines, the intense musical soundtrack, or the “fly-on-the-wall” special effects!

It’s unusual that the nagging lover is played by straight porn star Michael Gaunt, and he’s dubbed by the Ameros’ co-director Michael Findlay. Lew Seager was straight??

Count me in as another of Lew Seager’s fans. He had a “regular Joe” quality that was very appealing. Even with his bald spot. He and George Payne made a hot, contrasting pair. God, do I remember seeing this movie when I was young and impressionable! A lot of it made my skin crawl. I wanted to wring the nagging lover’s neck. He was such a bitch! And so was the wife; equal opportunity The party guests were pretty ghastly as well. They had nothing on “The Boys In The Band”. “She makes friends easily.” “Let’s go ahead and order an extra cucumber. We can always eat one.” In hindsight, I’m now more charitable toward its attempt at low camp humor. But at the time, it almost made me want to go straight.

Yep George Payne is still alive, married, and living in Queens. He posted a workout video to YouTube last year which also broadcasted his home phone number until it was yanked for some reason.
