Casey + Eric

Casey, at work, goes into the director’s office (of the soap opera) to discuss the script, but can’t keep his eyes off Eric Ryan ….. he then imagines a very hot scene between the two of them…

from Steve Scott‘s 1984 film, Non-Stop

????? (Jack Wrangler)

Anyway, I knew several people who continued with Casey Donovan after his career in movies was essentially over. I think he was also known for awhile/in some circles in the early-70s as ‘Cal Culver’, and was once an ‘item’ with Ellis Raab, the much older stage director and ex-husband of Rosemary Harris.

Hadn’t realized his career lasted that long, though. I knew ‘Boys in the Sand’ was early 70s (’71), but one of the guys I knew that had a tryst or two when he operated on W. 72nd in the days of handsome model Clay Johns and crazy-hustler Nick Cantrell who also had hustler-apartments on that street, had already made it with him well before ’84.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! he (meaning Jack Wrangler – not sure why your question pops up here) did straight porn as he was over exposed in gay porn, couldn’t get as much work as he wanted, and so tried str8 porn – his first heterosex was on screen, in China Sisters – all this according to his autobiography. His marriage to Margaret Whiting, a mystery to most people, and of little interest to me, actually – he says he fell in love – and his autobiography all but says they never had sex. I think he just watched videos and whacked off….

Not really mysterious, they were from the same social milieu, literally Beverly Hills show business, ‘Bonanza’ producer/his father, famous songwriter-musician/her father (wrote ‘Hooray for Hollywood! They were clearly very fond of each other, maybe it was just a friendship, certainly should have been. She would have been in her 60s by the time of autobio, and she was very pleasant, but still an old woman, a bit zaftig, and clearly ‘over the hill’. Both had plenty of money. I saw one of the straight films, ‘Jack and Jill’, with Samantha Fox, I believe; he was campy and not at all bad in it.
