So the first thing I thought when I saw MIKE here, photographed by “Dyna-Men of Dallas” was….
OK, so maybe “who is Dyna-Men of Dallas, I should google that” was the SECOND or THIRD thing I thought. But go ahead, try – nada! Mike, Bryan, and John appear in IN HEAT #8; one page / 3 pics each. Mike is, er, photogenic enough that I was sure I’d find him, and Dyna-Men of Dallas, somewhere… but, so far….
(update/edit) model’s name is Mike O’Neil (or Mike O’Neal) photographed by Edward Quirk (see more in comments)
Well well well – internet was no help, but glancing through IN HEAT #7 I spot this guy, who I’m guessing is not named Dallas Solo – was photograhed by the (nearly) same “DynaMen of Dallas” – again, no internet search finds this. But that is another good reason I need to be better at ID’ing sources, photographer names, model names (and AKA’s when we can!) – right?

I’ve never heard of that company either, and I don’t know if this would lead to anything but thought I’d mention it. The site ‘Houston LGBT History’ has scans of many publications centered around Texas, plus some nationwide publications as well. Most of what he has isn’t porn and I don’t really know much about his search feature, but you might scroll around the Dallas publications and see what you can find.

I know I mentioned this site to you before when you posted those pics from Cruise magazine not long ago, sometime in the past year. David Gorsky, Jack Wrangler, J.W. King, you remember that post I’m sure. Because on his page for national magazines he has a whole sub-section devoted to Cruise:

Thanks for these two links. Some amazing stuff. Really took me back. And also the articles in Cruise were fascinating and illuminating.
The model in Dynamen of Dallas is seriously hung. Some things in Texas are big. Really big.
Looking through some of the Cruise Pdfs I did come across an ad for Dynamen, selling photo sets.
May 1979 had an ad for them.
And some good articles and other ads.
I agree Zephyr, that link is a cool resource. Especially for some really early gay publications. I’ll have to revisit it and see what’s new.
“I also have a boner pic advertisement for Alan Davis by an outfit called Dyna-Men at 3409 Oak Lawn, suite 218, Dallas Tx 75219 – sorry, but I do t have an accurate date but it’s probably early 70s … He is smug because he knows that many men and women would buy him a house so that he could be their “boy next door.” Reply Delete. Replies …”
This is what came up on my duck duck go search for:
“dyna-men” dallas gay porn
… along with this link to a blog post that refused to load as https:

I may have mentioned that I don’t go to any blogs with google as the gatekeeper anymore so I couldn’t check it out but maybe you can? Or maybe you already saw this, which seems a lot more specific than my earlier comment.
interesting, guys – very happy you guys got into searching for Dynamen – but I’m almost wondering if y’all come here “just for the articles”!!
We barely mention the huge hard cock at the top of the post! (DaninPA -yes, you did – almost as an afterthought (smiley face)
Re: the top pic, I call that pose the ‘look pa no hands!’ (best to leave ma out of this) which of course is far more common in the post-viagra era. Guys who could achieve that in the years before were no doubt popular with everyone. And that’s a lovely and fat cock to be standing at attention.
Great that Dan even found an ad for this studio in the Cruise archive, and I hope these leads send you to more info. Happy new year beej :)
Oh, I noticed MIKE’s giant boner. My jaw hit the keyboard.
I love how happy he seems to be! I’d be proud too.
Mike’s scruffy, almost average looks, great mustache, and then his impressive endowment…that will do it for me. That’s kinda’ my type. Huge dick not required, but definitely appreciated.
Jeepers, that’s a big dick! Woof.
He’s so happy!
This is interesting. I know this guy as Mike O’Neal, as photographed by Edward Quirk of Metecue Associates in Ypsilanti, Michigan, 1970. Also, someone mentioned Alan Ryan, who also was photographed by Quirk. It could be that Dyna-Men of Dallas is a distributor sending Metecue material, and other studios’ material, to retail stores.
I think the men of Metecue are some the best looking in the business. I’m trying to collect as many as I can. Unfortunately, there don’t appear to be many models from that studio. I have photos of approximately ten models to date.
WOW! so many rabbit holes to go down! I’m guessing you’ve seen this catalogue online with Mike in it? (and 1970 sounds more right than 1977)
and an image search – some of the “X” and “tumblr” stuff may not be around for long
This is pretty cool. Some intriguing stuff in that image search. Looks like a kind of post physique era kind of photography studio. I like the blog CreatureBlackLagoon. I like the name also.
Thanks BJ!
I like the men of Metecue too. Thanks BearWorm!
I am still parsing through some of the stuff which came up as a result of this great post.
I wondered if anyone else is still perusing like me? For instance, the models of photographer Edward Quirk and Metecue, and other stuff found at the links provided and the image search. Rabbit holes indeed. Or maybe everybody else has had their fill and moved on?
These seem to be right in the period of time between the physique photography/posing strap era and when it morphed into the more explicit and pornographic photos and films of the 1970s. There’s a lot of overlap also of course. It gets a little complicated.
I’m still enjoying Mike and his buddies though. And I’ll end because it feels like I’m talking to myself here, which is OK because I often am.
