Frank Reed

who you may remember from such films as:

(re-edit)
You’ll notice the GEVI listing for Frank Reed shows him with a tattoo; after posting, and several comments and emails, we’ve concluded there are two “Frank Reeds” – and I’ll link to tattooed Frank when that post is ready. Meanwhile I’ll leave up the 3-pic comparison as a reference (where middle pic is “Frank Reed #2 – tattoo). This, I hope, covers the films (2) and magazines (3 original content, plus at least one more) for Frank Reed #1.

  • Triangle – (1979) w/ Ty Nevelson & a third man; photography by Colin Myer
  • Working Men #1 – (1979) photography by Colin Myer; corresponds to the film The Finishers
  • Balls (1981) w/ Jeff Sutter; photography by Colin Myer; corresponds to the film Balls
  • Nuts & Bolts – look to be same pics as found in Balls

Great clip of the two painters going at it and the soundtrack I’ve been looking for for over 30 years! Thank you BJ!

Well, who is he then? Please let us know.

He’s credited in SFO: San Francisco Orgy as “Frank Reed.” I have the photo. I’ll send it to BJ. Maybe he could post it.

Couldn’t there be two Frank Reeds?

Great profile…

But

And I hate to say this, because you put so much work into this: I think there are at least TWO Frank Reeds. The guy without the tattoo is a different guy. I think you have two profiles for two separate performers. Sorry BJ.

In your photo at the top with the triptych split 3 ways- perhaps the one on the left and the one on the right could be the same person, but in my opinion the one in the center with the tattoo is a different man. What do we all think?

BTW, Just a day or two ago I wrote to Woody at GEVI and suggested he add the “Thrust #1 Blade” film and a photo of the tattooed Frank Reed to his profile, which he did.

I forgot all about the “other” Frank Reed. I should have known better- I have a folder for each one. But how could there be two Frank Reeds around the same time in the early ’80s?

Now I realize that Woody may have these two confused as well. He only has one listing for Frank Reed from the 1980s. It’s weird that both Franks are in the “Thrust” collection, but I still think they are not the same guy. The other Frank Reed, without the tattoo, was the one with the scruff on his chest and eventually he had a pierced nipple when he appeared in “Balls.”

I hate myself for disagreeing. Don’t mean to cause trouble, it’s just my opinion. Again, what does everybody else think?

The clips are great! Thanks so much.

Aargh, I’m fretting over here. Should I not have said anything? I guess I could be wrong. I could always be wrong. Sometimes I go back and forth over these identifications. One minute I’ll swear up and down and feel completely certain, then later I’ll change my mind. Then still later I’ll go back again. Usually I enjoy the process, but sometimes, like now, it’s excruciating.
