I rarely rarely just re-post a full magazine page or two; while I try not to get too “creative” with changing original images, I’m usually just cropping out any text, re-centering, cutting out dirty feet or other unflattering bits – that sort of thing. Here I’m posting the pages as they appeared, just in case it helps someone help me ID this guy – I really don’t remember this Target model! Honcho began sometime in the late 90’s to publish vintage pics (alas, usually only 2 pages) from the “Target Archives” – sometimes using a different name (Like Nick Rogers was in the October 2000 issue of Honcho, but the text was: Flashback: Larry White – Los Angeles, CA 1978 ). So in this case, Richard may not be his name, or even his “model” name – but still, just his image – I am drawing a blank! This “Flashback” is from the April 1999 issue of Honcho – anyone?

I don’t remember him either, but I know these things:
I don’t think I actually know all the Target models, because I never had access to all the photo sets. And not all of the models who appeared in the photo sets appeared in print elsewhere.
I also know that those Honcho Flashbacks were notoriously unreliable. They came out in the 1990s and they often used made up names for models who were recognizable to anyone with more than a passing interest for 70s & 80s gay porn. Other times, they used the correct names or something close, like with “Larry White” aka Nick Rodgers who was aka Larry LeBlanc. You know, “leblanc” is French for “white.” They were all over the place.
And yet, they were great! Such an awesome idea. Little gems of vintage porn among all the more modern porn. So even though I can’t confirm that this guy modeled for Target, I definitely think it’s possible. I can’t say it’s not true. And he’s pretty hot. I like the vest. Without it, I’d be getting more Playgirl than Target.
Like you say, the name is probably not accurate. I’ll have to do further research, but the name means nothing to me and the face isn’t particularly familiar. I love it though! Wouldn’t it be cool to discover a “new” Target model?
Fun post! Thanks BJ.
I had considered “Tom Fox” or just TOM from the film Dune Fox, but thought he looked too boyish – but looking at the not very helpful few photos of Tom (w/Barry) I realize the hat, glasses, etc hides his face, so… sideburns? hair? nose?
if that doesn’t do it, a look at the film, but my digital version is a bit on the blurry side…
