security guard

Arcade (1984) – Director: Jim West (1984) “precondom” – full movie is 65 minutes running time

Starring: Eric Stryker (AKA Noel Kemp, Mike Kelly), Nick Rodgers (as the Security Guard), Kevin Hunt, Jose Castiore, Phillip Todd, Joey Roma, Chip DeLorme, and Zed Michaels

We’ve all been there, doing nasty stuff in a sleazy porn video shop, when the knock on the door comes – and in this movie, it’s mustached and hairy killjoy Nick Rodgers, the security guard, patrolling the area in order to prevent any hanky panky from occurring. Suspecting something might be going on in a (rather spacious) video booth, he pounds on the door. (Or sometimes we hear the less intrusive barking mantra “more quarters, gentlemen” at the politer venues – but I digress.) Here, the 4 men have had enough, so they confront him, ripping off his shirt, then using a knife to cut him out of his jeans! I had forgotten just how menacing Eric Stryker is here with the big knife! – and where in those tight jeans did he stow that? And the menacing music! Knife going up the jeans, towards his…. I can’t watch! Don’t hurt Nick’s gorgeous cock!

….cue: Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s Relax and Eric and Nick get it on.

Meanwhile, the other 3 have sex nearby. Why? Don’t get me wrong, I like the pairing of Eric and Nick, but why have the 4 guys “get back” at Nick, only to back off and let Eric have all the Nick-fun? Finale involves Eric on the porno arcade’s floor (you’d think it would be Nick, but Eric is the star of the movie, appearing in all the scenes!) as all them men finish up around him.

“Arcade”, original theme song, performed by Jake Coletti, written by Jake Coletti and Jim West (scroll down to last video clip / promo)

and don’t forget to check out this reddit review – he digs the theme song as much as i do!

during the last hack/site down event, I made myself look through all the directories to root out potential issues. Most were harmless directories that I had just forgotten about, like music file uploads so friends could download an album instead of emailing a large file. Then I stumbled upon a few odd html files that seemed out of place – just not a directory I would put an html file in – they were fine, working webpages, created more than a decade ago, and I coudn’t even determine which blog post they may have been used for. All this to say here are a few clickety clicks for your amusement, and guess which one is coming down soon. very very soon!

Blues in the Afternoon

Rod Mitchell and Josh Kincaid

sigh.

Blues in the Afternoon (AKA Hit the Deck) (1979) – (mentioned before on BJland – I keep wondering why Target often has 2 names for their films. Perhaps the initial film release has one title, and when they re-released on VHS, along with a magazine, it got the new title? Just a guess. All images, save the 8mm advert just below, are from what I think is a publication called Blues in the Afternoon – or an extensive spread in something else – 25 pages in all, set in Fire Island – gotta be the Belvedere – right? Love the photography – and while my preference might usually by close-ups and medium shots, I enjoy Jon Targets eye for showing these beautiful bodies in the longer shots, with the awesome angles of the pool and deck on black and white. Having said that, my favorite photo of this pair is definitely the last one in this post.

if you want the short version, scroll down, past all this! But don’t watch clip without at least that.

I haven’t been able to convert any of my VHS to digital since I got a new computer nearly a year ago. Alas, hardware/software blahblahblah wasn’t compatible, and, the new computer oddly has less storage space than the old. Long story short, got additional storage, new conversion hardware, and new conversion software (actually 2, one “works” the other doesn’t – yet). So, I figured why not test with that VHS tape I bought inadvertently with a bundle, but led to a question of whether a guy from the corresponding magazine was in it or not (VHS box shows no sign – no image, no name) – and GEVI lists a couple stars who have no corresponding image or other porn work that we can tell. Then the digitizing was a struggle, and the first run was a 16 gigabyte file – not at all sustainable! Especially for a shitty 1985 video, right? But during playback, I realized that it was picking up the music I was listening to (Billy Bragg & Wilco) via the PC, and now it’s on the tape! I put that aside, tried to do a test run without this issue, and then, suddenly, NO SOUND AT ALL! 12 hours of experimenting later, I get to record a rare Chris Burns tape – more on that another time – but I don’t dare listen to music while recording, at least for now.

Where was I – so the surprise wasn’t that Beau Matthews – pictured above and below from the magazine, Wave Riders which promises to show you the “scenes behind the scenes as you view outakes from the Ocean Pacific videotape” ( Wave Riders AKA Hang 10) – wasn’t in the film, but that another fairly familiar guy, was!

As the movie starts, the credits list – Andrew Barrington (AKA Bill Crane), Paul Harris, Rick Kennedy, Teddy Moore, John Black, introducing Marc Fox. Skimming through, there are 6 Scenes. No Beau from what I can tell, but Don Bishop (who you may remember as Skip Wilson via Falcon)!!! He’s paired off in scene 5, and solo (shown above) for the finale.

And then there’s the issue (AKA rabbithole) that I am not, yet, pursuing regarding the production company, Ocean Pacific, which only made just this one movie, and the (somewhat) corresponding magazine. Gotta have something to do with the clothing company, right? So the connection to College Station? Certainly at least Don Bishop – oh, and there’s an ad in the magazine for another magazine, called American Centermen which shows a small pic of Don Bishop – so why wasn’t he credited? And I have a handful of pics from that magazine, with a great photo of Mickey Squires – another rabbithole to go down! (Did I mention there’s a cute pic of Beau in OP shorts?)

oops – I forget to eat. that’s it.

SHORT VERSION – ignore the Beau Matthews pics, here’s a clip of Don Bishop, uncredited, from Hang 10 AKA Wave Riders

Chauffer’s Time

When we last took a gander at Tom Quinn (AKA Tom Hartung), I was unable to find the only film he’s done – Chauffer’s Time (1979) – but just found it this week, and, alas, 5 minutes? Take a look – while it looks like it’s cut off abruptly, the ending is, well, your typical ending.

was working on a lengthy post, too many sidetracks, rabbit holes, and incomplete info, so this’ll have to do for now, mkay?
