why working on a post (that is taking many days!) I thought I’d just toss out a simple one-photo post, went to scan a pic from a newly acquired Playguy, and remembered my “scanning policy.” Don’t just scan a pic or two, always get the cover, the index, and then whatever your needed, plus, if time permits, other pages of interest. Then, change file names to reflect the name of the publication, date, and page number… all this so later it’s easier to find. So the 2-minute diversion from the original post I was working on has turned into an hour – plus! Anyway, only 2 pics of this guy, the other, but shot, is too pimply, but I thought he was decent looking – now what’s that tattoo?
very Prince Dirty Minds imagery; wondering if he made it into any Surge Studios films? And now, a new potential topic, or post category – Surge models who never appeared in a movie!

The tat might say ‘Lou’ at least that’s what it looked like when I zoomed way in. Can’t tell what the shape above the word says though, maybe a ship or a hat? A ship might indicate Marine or Navy. His dick is nice and plump (wonder if Al let him use a cockring or pumped it up in a vacuum before the shot) but looks pretty oily too. I’d have to watch it again to confirm but at the beginning of Games, when Al is on his knees sucking a dick through a sort of glory hole set up in a studio, then he pauses when the phone rings … is that anonymous dick ever identified?
I see that you shared the magazine (Playguy) and the year (1980) but not the month, or the specific photographer unless it was just attributed to Surge the studio. Seems like a lot of Surge’s photo sets just mentioned the name of the company and not which person may have taken it.
There are quite a few Surge-related mysteries: the i.d.’s of all the guys in Turned On, why he removed the scene with Zeke and Daniel Holt from Rangers (only to save it for A Night Alone…), what others?
Correction: the scene left out of Rangers was with Al, Zeke and J.D. Slater. Daniel Holt was in the cabin threeway with Al and Chris Allen when Al tied his dick up in that weird and rather painful looking mass of manflesh so Daniel could fuck it.
Astute observations as always Zephyr!
A Surge “mystery” I can’t let go of…
What happened to the film that is associated with the incredibly hot Surge mag, “Surf’s Up” with Steve Taylor, Jack Hudson & Brad Scott?
Actually, I know the answer: before Surge started making films, they released mags with photosets and this was one of those. However, there is no question that these dudes were just posing. It’s a crime that there is no film.
Also, why did Al Parker never get these guys to appear in later films? Crime! Tragedy!
Not really mysteries, just me on a tirade.
playguy doesn’t give month – but if you want to know issue, clicking on pic, “open image in new tab” you’ll get volume 5, issue 9, page 28. Yes, “Surge Studios” is the credit for photographer; I’d say his cock looks shiny, not oily (like AMG or Mike Arlen photos)… the difference, for me anyway – in my mouth or “let me wipe that up for you before I …”
I have no idea who this is, sorry to say. He doesn’t even look all that familiar.
The other thing you described happens to me every time I start looking at your blog BJ! Or any other interesting gay porn stuff. I get sucked into a time portal. It’s a pretty fun trip though, so thanks!
There were links on BJLand that I should have included:

and besides “why no film”?? other questions – like – HOW short WAS Steve?? Did those guys do it in a non-Surge film?? – they look very Pantheon Studios to me!
Steve may have been short, but his throat went all the way down. Haha!
“Did those guys do it in a non-Surge film??” I agree they look very “Pantheon,” but I don’t think so. I think Al and Steve just invited those guys over and they did it while Al took photos. Then they probably did it again. If I had a time machine, I would go back in time to a place where AL & Steve were about to drive by in their sex-mobile, and I would be standing with my thumb out (and maybe other body parts).
Another Surge-related mystery … whatever happened to the hammock scene from Flashbacks? I know there are a few pics of it (though I’m far from the expert in which issues that you and some other readers here are, Johnny especially). But that looked like it might have been better than some of the footage he kept for that film, one of their first as that studio anyway.

Zephyr! That’s a good one, and I don’t have the answer, but I’d sure like to know. I’d love to see more of that scene, pics or film. A sex sling from before they were manufacturing sex slings. When did they start manufacturing sex slings?
I think BJ could do a whole post on Surge mysteries. But it would be tough to get answers.
