I’m perusing an old Drummer magazine, and this pic just above catches me eye – woah!! who’s that stud on the right next to Val Martin? who the heck is….. google, add “gay” don’t forget to enclose the name in quotes and… thank you very much Homodesiribus!! I immediately knew it was Scott Butcher – and then went to try to find some more pics to create a post – OMG – the one below – not just BALLLLSS! – but he’s got ballshadow!
3 pics – good post – now just…. noooooo! don’t search the harddrive, you’ll never get your chores done! OK, add this, you’ve used this one before, but ballllllssss! and…hmmmm.
who likes balls? who doesn’t like balls? who’s actually enjoying SCOTT’s ballllsss? – TOBY! good man!
Please sir, I want some more. (MORE?) Please Sir, I want some….. more.
can Fred Halsted help out?
from the 1979 COSCO publication, Rough Trade – I imagine these pics were taken well before 1979, as some of the others in the magazine are images from film releases of 1978… who knows, and I don’t think there are any Scott Butcher films… so these pics will have to do – and they do!

I’ve always thought the pairing of Toby and Scott Butcher was one of the worst ever.
Normally I would too find Toby a bit lightweight and/or epicene for these kind of scenes, but I kind of like the contrast of his aesthetic with Butcher’s..
Agreed! (Sorry Parisian).
Also, great vocab!
Balls? YES! Basically, everything about Mr. Butcher is amazing. He’s so incredible. Thanks for this packed-full post on him.
Ball shadow! I love it. Only BJ. You’re the first to introduce me to the joys of dick and ball shadow. I think I came up with the term “belly side-fur.” That’s something I guess.
My favorite here are the Rough Trade photos from Cosco. I love the facial hair and the different hats/costumes. Before I saw that magazine, I had that one photo- like the one next to Val Martin, and for years I didn’t realize it was Scott Butcher. Maybe the amazing facial hair threw me off. I sent you the pic and you IDed him instantly.
Anyway, he’s one of my favorites and I admire all of his work. His intense sexuality and masculinity reminds me of another Colt icon, Ray Dragon. The camera eats them both up. It’s too bad he never did any films. But like you said, what we have of him is plenty.
Thanks BJ!
Great to know his real name also. His first name is so cool.
oh – and he appears on cover of In Touch Vol1 No6 1974 with Paul Strand
