more videos!

….. the purge continues.. cleaning out old videoclips, let’s start with – FALCONHEAD (1975) – director Michael Zen (a review on reddit over here

and bit from The Other Side of Aspen 2 (1985) – I think I can safely assume that ALL OF YOU have seen this one!

10 Plus #2 (1993) – if you squint, looks like Ryan Block, Mark Andrews, and Nick Manetti ( who wouldn’t strip to that music!) who says gay men can dance? from director Jeff Stryker – yes, I said director!

MEN’S ROOM (1996) – Sam Crockett, David Cline (or Thompson?), and Randy White…. ahhhhh, Sam Crockett – was it the accent?

A rare sighting of Stryker’s name here, it doesn’t surprise me that he branched out into directing when he started his own company.

That Falconhead ending really made me think, the whole Narcissus concept and being trapped within the mirror. You linked to Michael Z’s director page on gevi, have you considered adding him to your directors subsection here? At one point you were going to expand that out I think you said, and he seems like a worthy guy to add (especially since you know more about him than some others thanks to the Manshots interview you found).

The clip for Aspen 2 has great video, but the audio was all mashed up. It was like it played over itself and just sounded confusing. Terrific highlights though, Tony Bravo and Giorgio Canali made for a great pairing.

the only director I’ve added since the original list is AL PARKER; and J Brian should certainly be up there, and Zen, probably – and I only say that cuz my interest is in the 70’s/early 80’s era, and so much of his work is later – BUT BUT BUT, after making this post, and looking at the link, I got super curious about MAN SIZE (1986) – which I don’t recall ever seeing or hearing about, and its still in the era that interests, me – in fact, G.I. MAC and He-Devils are both later, and I really liked both of them…..

as far as quality on some of these recycled clips – a big reason they are getting the post and dump treatment – not worth taking up hard drive space, but that one in particular might be from the era when my video converter was all messed up (recall Fast Idle quality issues?)

I don’t think you should apologize for these “dumps” – I love these video clips grouped together posts. It’s an effective theme. Interesting to compare and contrast, etc.

So, many thanks!

You do preface your directors section with ‘BJ’s favorite directors’ and not necessarily the best of the 70s / 80s era. Which is subjective anyway, though I can see both Michael Zen and J. Brian as being worthy of expansion someday, if you decide to do that.

For ‘most notable directors’ (regardless of how much you like their work) there’s John Travis, Bill Higgins and Jerry Douglas of course, Chris Rage maybe even, plus some others as well. I just remembered you talking about that page and describing it as incomplete from the way you want it, only reason I brought it up.

clip for Aspen 2 – oh, just rewatched, and NO – can’t blame that one on me! must’ve been the crappy VHS I copied it off of!

Jeff Stryker is surely the greatest director since Orson Welles. Too bad he didn’t get to marry Rita Hayworth longer than anyone else–despite Orson’s Girth!

Ah, mon dieu! What an artist that Stryker was/is! I thought he was awful even as a performer. Downright moribund.

Parisian, Parisian… ‘Why,’ says Almaviva to Figaro, ‘is there always something louche about everything you do?’ But it’s true even if harsh, that, about dear boy Stryker. You know, he lived well and he was never caught.
