who you may remember from such films as:
- Dreamer – (1974) (both the Forest Fantasy and the Box Car scenes)
- The Sins of Johnny X (1975)
- Catching Up – (1975) – (see clip below)
- Morning, Noon & Night (Cosco) – (1975)
- Snowballing – (1975)
- Six Card Stud – (1975)
- The Teenager and the Fugative – (1976)
- Men’s Room (Pyramid) – (1976)
- The Kid from L.A. – (1977) – (see clip below)
- Desert Fox – (1978) found in both California Fox – (1979) and Pieces of Eight – (1980)
Keep scrolling, and you’ll see it was near impossible to find pics of Dave Daniels that didn’t include Mike Morris – (not that I’m complaining about Mike Morris!) – but Dave did do more films than Mike (who was in Desert Fox, Joe Gage’s El Paso Wrecking Corp, and of course his COLT film, Summit Meeting) – Dave’s 9 in 5 years compared to Mike’s 3. And Dave didn’t appear (as far as I’ve been able to tell) in many magazines, (not being a COLT model like Mike) – perhaps only the 2 related to Desert Fox listed below. And just some photos from ads. Of course, I’m happy to update if I get additional info. Oh, yeah, I have a Dreamer brochure (somewhere) that should have a pic or two of Dave.
Enjoy the clips!
scene from Catching Up – (1975)
Dave is certainly into dirty talk, we got a Pink Floyd tune on repeat for the soundtrack, and Keith’s huge cock – Keith is remarkably quiet in the scene (granted he’s often got his mouth full).
you may also remember Dave from such magazines as:
- IN HEAT #3 (1978)
- DESERT FOX (1978)
- Western Men (1978)
OK – that might be it for magazines – let’s check out another video clip
The Kid from L.A. – (1977)
Billy Preston, Vangelis, and as director Steve Scott enjoys, ambient sounds of traffic while Dave and Duff Paxton get it on in the back of Dave’s van. Is it me, or does the inside of this van look HUGE?

Another great and informative post BJ, kudos to you and any jockstrapped interns you may have ordered around. The inside of the van in the Kid From L.A. scene does look rather spacious – I had the same thought watching Getting It when Joe Gere, Jim Bentley and David Calvin share bong hits in that scene, with the David Lee Roth poster hovering above them. I’m sure both scenes were filmed somewhere else as actual car and vehicle recording would be pretty impractical from a cameraman perspective. But so long as the exterior shots manage to make it look convincing that’s all that matters.
You said that the music during the Kid scene with Duff and Dave was Vangelis, do you know the name of the song? I figured out Billy Preston’s Nothing From Nothing as that one has lyrics but I’m at more of a disadvantage when it comes to instrumental music.
Steve was responsible for a lot of great music (and other audio) in porn moments, sometimes coming from what sounds like a radio or even TV. During the second scene in Twelve At Noon, right after Duff and the other guys do it in the t-room, there’s the scene with Doug Thompson and Bud Brody in a car while Doug eats lunch. Steve recorded part of Casey Kasem counting down that week’s top 40 from the radio (it was actually July 17th 1976) and played most of two songs, The Boys Are Back In Town by Thin Lizzy; followed by Take The Money And Run by Steve Miller Band. I love it when there’s clues and I can nerd out and find the actual source for something like that, like the June 19th, 1978 Yankees-Red Sox game on ABC Monday Night Baseball from A Married Man, which Steve edited and Bill Higgins directed. Or Screen Play, the scene in the motel room where the TV was playing the film Eagle’s Wing.
Should you need or want them I could let you know the songs I’ve identified from these Steve Scott films: Dangerous, Doing It, Flashback, Games, Gemini, Greenhorn, Inches, Performance, Track Meet and Twelve At Noon, the last one which I just told you above. In fact I’ve probably told you most if not all of these so ask if you have any gaps and I’ll share what I have from my old spreadsheet, which is incomplete but at least my attempt at putting them in some kind of order.
La petite fille de la mer – and no, I don’t know their music that well, I use SoundHound (an alternative to Shazaaaam).
I will definitely take you up on your offer of Steve Scott tunes used on his soundtracks – Gemini – is it ALL Pink Floyd??? I mean, what crazy person would use Careful With That Axe, Eugene in a porno???!!
I should see if i can nab some promo/trailers for any of them
Merci on the Vangelis song mon frere :) My notes are all scrambled and have some gaps, for example here’s what I have for Gemini (with the caveat that the clip I watched by NM Hot Dad on xham I think, had about two minutes of scans at the beginning so that bumps back the start times). And I owe a tip o’ my cap to someone at reddit who identified one of the previously unknown to me songs when I reviewed this one:
03:30 – 11:50 — Pink Floyd, Careful With That Ax Eugene
14:40 – 24:20 — Pink Floyd, Shine On You Crazy Diamond 1-5 (?)
24:40 – 29:20 — Pink Floyd, Have A Cigar
30:20 – 33:10 — Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here
[unknown / L.A. radio ad]
37:20 – 40:00 — Chicago, 25 Or 6 To 4
[another L.A. radio ad]
40:10 – 41:20 — David Soul, Don’t Give Up On Us Baby
41:30 – 44:00 — unknown woman 1
45:40 – 48:50 — unknown woman 2
49:00 – 52:30 — unknown man
52:40 – 54:30 — unknown disco
56:40 – 64:50 — unknown instrumental (possibly more Pink Floyd)
For me it’s like a puzzle I never anticipate completely finishing, so each piece I find gives me a little burst of dopamine satisfaction. If I used any of those music ID programs or apps I’d no doubt have even fewer gaps. But by sticking to the old school way I’m used to it gives a chance for anyone who actually DOES use those programs to let me know some of what’s missing in my spreadsheet.
I appreciate this post! I’ve chased after “who is Dave Daniels, really” for a couple of years now. I’ve always loved that patio scene with Mike Morris in Pieces of Eight, and appreciate seeing several new photos posted here.
