back to flashback

I know we did the flashback music project – ID’ing the music from AL PARKER’s film (did we get it all); but this preview/cumming attraction popped up and thought, why not? I do wish the pic above was better – without the insert, for one. I do like Kirk Mannheim’s look in this film – a tad scruffier? maybe the ‘stache is just a bit fuller than his work for Falcon? You know what I wish was included in the glossy hardcore magazine that SURGE Studios put out with Kirk and Al? Kirk before taking the red t-shirt off – fully clothed and hot!

a bit more Kirk Mannheim elsewhere on BJland

As for the music, I think between the two of us we not only identified the songs heard but also when they play. As I recall there were a few breaks where no music is heard, which explains the time gaps. Your big contributions were the i.d. on Violation by Saint Tropez; and then knowing which of the parts of Oxygene play. It’s much harder doing that kind of thing with instrumental tracks, especially the old, non-shazam way I still cling to.

I should probably get over that and stop being so stubborn. I stumped myself (again) last night trying to identify a song that fades in and out during the alley scene of Like A Horse, it sounds like the band New Order but I couldn’t place the specific song. Speaking of music, did you see my comment about The Joys of Self Abuse, how the first three songs were by Patrick Cowley? And maybe be able to confirm whether or not all the music from that film is his Afternooners soundtrack also? Sorry to be a pest (and give you even more work lol), I looked on a few tube sites but didn’t find the film posted anywhere in full. I did make a post on the Cowley subreddit about it, that’s interesting how much of his music popped up in porn films aside from just the Fox ones where they credited him.

Back to Flashback .. wasn’t there a missing scene involving a hammock? Maybe some of the pics wound up in one of the Surge glossy magazines but it wasn’t included in the videotape release anyway. It could have been included when the film made the rounds at actual porn theatres like the 55th Street Playhouse or Adonis in NYC, the Nob Hill in SF or even the Bijou in Chicago. That would be an interesting topic to delve into sometime, if there were any way to compare the films guys like us were whacking off to in the theatres versus what made it onto VHS and later DVD versions of these films, but I have no idea how we’d manage that as a lot of the film reels have likely disintigrated by now, if anybody even kept them.
