Duke’s has some of the hot hoodlum-look I grew up with in the South. The incredible photo from yesterday is like the ones I’ve seen the last 40 years, but never quite so fantastically stylish. Is that Colt too? I want to see more photos of him, although I’d be fine with either of them up my ass.

haha, yes, probably. I went there with s & m queen friends in the early 70s, but never got into that scene. There were some incredible stories of rough trade hustler Nick Cantrell, whom I knew through one of these. Nick was in love with one *Dominic*, a super-sadist who was also a hairdresser at Bonwit Teller at the time–the kind of sadist who was never satisfied without drawing some blood. Nick was quite crazy, this hot Black-Irish from San Antonio, who turned tricks on W. 72nd St. He would go through garbage cans in Dominic’s building, trying to find his underwear. My friend G. almost committed suicide during their affair of tons of fisting, and Nick saying things like “If I’m not the sex symbol of the world in 6 months, I’m going to commit suicide” and also did slash his wrists in front of G.
I don’t think leather was done by homosexual men as well back then as it is now, but it was certainly dead serious with the posing–some of them looked ridiculous, esp. the ones trying to look like cops. I never went to the Eagle after those couple of times in the early 70s, I guess it moved to another location, and is still operating last I heard.
