Wow, thanks so much for this post! What I’ve read about Christopher, and the films I’ve seen that were made by him, are really interesting. Not always the best in jack off material, but fascinating to look at his filmmaking and editing techniques, the use of sound, that kind of stuff. I used to have a VHS copy of Orgy that some loser tweaker stole from me, grrrr, though I think it was a re-released version and not the original.
That link to the Paul Morris article has this quote towards the beginning: “…he’d been a serious songwriter (serious enough to have had one of his songs recorded by the legendary 70s group The Spinners…” I think I’ve mentioned to you how much I am interested in the music that was used in gay porn from the 70s and 80s, so reading this line grabbed my attention and got me to digging around on various sites, and I found the song he’s talking about – it’s called With My Eyes and was on the Spinners’ 1979 album Dancin’ and Lovin’:
The only songwriting credits I could find for Chris/Trey were all songs he co-wrote with Doug James, but in case you or any of your readers want to see it, some were recorded by other artists as well:
WOW indeed – thanks for the research (this is why I finally opened up “comments” a few years back) – seems more and more of the Christopher Rage info on the web is disappearing – check this out – http://recordrobot.blogspot.com/2006/03/terrible-rage.html – vinyl The Singing Rage – “My face seats two, there’s room for you/ And you can even bring a friend along,/ So pleased to seat you, I’m Freddie Pig.”
We seem to work well in tandem, how bout that? Because after reading the 2006 blog post you linked I searched youtube and found one of the songs from this album I knew nothing about, Better You:
Too bad the two sound clips that were linked to that blog have disappeared, Hot Rocker and Freddie Pig, since I bet they would be pretty cool as well. Did you happen to snag the Freddie song while it was still up? Or maybe you’ve heard it yourself since you were able to quote the lyrics. Champagne & Cocaine sounds like it would be wild as well… the song, not… well you know ;)
