Richard’s masculinity was just SO powerful. A man who was clearly comfortable with who he was and what he was. He is without doubt ‘up there’ in the cannon of gay men who trail blazed their way into gay history with their portrayal of the ‘ordinary’ guy who just happened to like sex with other guys.
Met him when he was bartending at the Detour bar in San Francisco i the mid 80’s. Nice guy.
