Yet another great picture! Where do you find these, BJ? You’ve really been on a roll. I can’t keep up with you. Have you gotten a brand new scanner? All of your recent images have been especially crisp and clear.
Even with dark sunglasses, his presence still burns through. This must be from 1980’s “Three Day Passâ€:
I concur with director Steve Scott when he described him as having “so much magnetism it leaped off the screen and knocked you out of your seatâ€.
“El Paso Wrecking Corp.†– And I also agree with you when you described “… and Fred Halsted’s laid back sexiness is sooooo thick throughout the film…†(!)
As I’ve said before, depending on the context, he can look either friendly or menacing. I’ve never cared for his S & M side, but I do admit, that it allows for a sexy/kinky image:
I always regret that I passed up the chance in 1979, to see him and Joseph Yale, live on stage in the Hollywood production of, “News for Tennesseeâ€. As I said before, I was young and too closeted.
This play had an interesting premise, which I learned about in the April 1979 issue of Honcho magazine. Yale plays a man who falls in love with an aging hustler, Halsted, who later abandons him. Yale suffers a nervous breakdown and tries to commit suicide. He later marries the nurse who helped to recuperate him, while he was in the hospital. Many years later, Halsted comes back into the picture, professing his love and asking for forgiveness. Yale is caught between his wife and a hustler, who he can’t trust; heavy drama with nudity:
Did you know in 1979, he also appeared in, “Dribble†a PG-rated comedy about a women’s basketball team? Read the full page and click on the image icons:
I’m still holding out hope, that you’ll post the complete image of this picture that shows his head. I believe this was from the cover of “Alternate (or Alternative?)†magazine. It’s my favorite!
Wow, all this new information, has really gotten me more curious. Have you gotten around to reading, “Halsted Plays Himself†by William E. Jones? I know I will, eventually. ; )
was there a question in there somewhere? just teasing – so many great links – thanks! DRIBBLE???? had no idea, but he looks great!
My Halsted pics are scattered over several magazines buried under various piles across this seemingly tiny apartment (unless I am looking for something smaller than the TV or computer…)
but will try to re-scan as requested.
Talking to Tom DeSimone, who worked with Halsted on EROTIKUS, he found him to be difficult to work with, and he even claimed the cum shot at the finale of the film was stunted. But looking forward to reading the William Jones book, which I bought at Bureau of General Services Queer Division in NYC recently.

I also prefer him with short hair, but he does look rather dashing in this picture. What a full sensual mouth and strong jaw line!

This beefcake picture was used to advertise the play. Notice his appendectomy scar:

Let me thank you once again for this glamour shot. Maybe you can repost it again, since you now have a better scanner:
